Brief Introduction of the Department: Fine Arts & Performing Arts.
Department of Fine Arts and Performing Arts was previously known as the Youth Welfare & Cultural Activities Department is the only one of its kind in Madhya Pradesh. The department started its journey on 1st May 1964. In due course of time, the department started facilitating training in cultural activities. From the year 1988 to 2010 the Department of Youth Welfare Cultural activities and Performing arts conducted P.G. Diploma in Performing Arts. This department started working under the School of Arts and Information Sciences (AIS) with the name of Department of Fine Arts and Performing Arts since 2009. From 2014-15 onwards the Department is offering courses such as B.A. with Theatre Art, Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) with specialization in Applied Arts, Master of Performing Arts & Theatre Arts.

BFA in Applied Arts (4 Years) UG Program
Department of Fine Arts & Performing Arts is offering courses of Bachelor of Fine Arts ,Bachelor of Fine Arts-in Applied Arts (Four years professional course) to be covered in 8 semesters. BFA First Year is inclusive of common foundation course which is basically the knowledge of all streams of visual Arts, Painting, Sculpture, Pottery, and Textile. After the successful completion of first year or second semester, Students take Applied Art as their Specialization. In Present scenario, Department of Fine Arts has only one subject of Specialization, which is Applied Arts .In near future, we will try to introduce other specialization courses in Painting, Pottery, Textile, Graphic arts, sculpture etc.
Eligibility Criteria.
- The minimum eligibility for BFA in 10+2 examination with minimum 45% marks.
- For BFA program, the candidate has to appear in UGET entrance examination also.
MPA in Theatre Arts (2 Years) PG Program:
The main categories under Performing Arts are acting and drama. It can be understood as a form of learning where the artists use their vocal skills, body language and actions to express emotions and ideas. The two-year program gives exposure to folk culture, regional language and dialect, culture, and traditions. Nukkad Natak(street play ), Writing for local Radio, short film making are part of the curriculum. The program intends to develop experts who specialize in acting and drama forms, which aims to equip students with information and aptitude to execute as an actor and theater artist according to industry benchmarks. One can be employed as: Actor, Choreographer, Set Designer, Theatre Director, Singer, Theatre Arts Teacher, Screenwriter, Stage Manager, and Broadcasting Presenter. The degree in Performing Arts provides numerous opportunities towards a bright career.

- The minimum eligibility for MPA in Theatre Arts is graduation in any discipline, with 45% marks.
- For MPA Program the candidate has to appear in PGET entrance examination also.
B.A.in TheatreArts
BA in theatre arts is a undergraduate course which is of three-year duration. This is basically an Acting and Drama course. The subjects taught in the B.A in theatre course includes various components of study such as concept of theatre, practice and classroom production, Greek & Roman Theatre, Paris theatre,Indian Theatre & Natya Shastra,Indian Folk Theatre, Stage Design, Light Design, Stage Design, Voice& Speech etc.
The aim of this program is to equip students with information and aptitude to execute as an actor to proficient industry benchmarks.
Eligibility Criteria
- The minimum eligibility for B.A. Theatre Arts is 10+2 examination with 45% marks.
- For B.A. in Theatre Arts program the candidate has to appear in UGET entrance examination also.
