Jawaharlal Nehru Library (Central Library)

Jawaharlal Nehru Library, Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya Sagar (Central University) is the oldest and Largest University Library situated in the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. It is located at the Centre of the University Teaching Departments to help the users for better and regular use of the Library. The Library has 3 stories Stack designed to accommodate 4 lacs volumes with an extension wing and a seminar hall. The present building's foundation stone was laid down by former Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. On the occasion of the University Commission’s tour of Saugor, Sir Radhakrishnan observed the following in connection with the site there: “This seat of the University with its situation amidst beautiful natural scenery would have been turned into a beauty spot in any other civilized country.” Recently, the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, inaugurated a new extension Building equipped with all modern facilities.

ONOS has been operational since 1^st January 2025 for three calendar years 2025, 2026 and 2027. ONOS has access to 13000+ scholarly Journals from 30 Leading Publishers.

Library Resources:

The library has more than 3.9 lakhs books and bound journals, 158 Print journals in its collection, besides a good collection of rare manuscripts and reference books. The Library has procured e-books, e-journals, and an e-database of reputed publishers. JLN Library is getting e-resources under the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS). JLN Library has an institutional membership of INFLIBNET, DELNET, Shodhganga, Shodhgangotri, ShodhShudhi, National Digital Library, NDLI Club, and various reputed societies. DrillBit Extreme Software is used for the plagiarism check facility. IRINS and Vidwan Database for University are maintained by the JLN Library. The G-Suite education facility is provided by the JLN Library. INFLIBNET Learning Management System is maintained by the JLN Library. The Institutional Repository is also maintained by the JLN Library. A separate Assistive Learning Lab is equipped with Kibo-XS device, Braille Printer and Sugamaya Pustakalaya Subscription for Divyangjan. The Bookeye Scanner and Fine Reader 14 software are also available in the Institutional Repository Lab. The Library premises are well connected with LAN and MHRD WIFI. Entire e-resources are accessible on registered NKN IP and through MHRD WIFI in the departments & hostels.

Opening Hours	The JLN Library remains open all days except Gazetted Holidays. The details are:
Monday to Friday	09:30 AM to 09:00 PM
Saturday	10:30 AM to 06:00 PM
Sunday	10:00 AM to 04:00 PM

Library Committee :- The Library Committee has been constituted as per Ordinances 53 as notified in THE GAZETTE OF INDIA and the members are the Vice-Chancellor or his nominee as Chairman, Deans of Schools, Dean of Students Welfare, One Professor from each of the Schools to be nominated by the Vice-Chancellor as a member, and the Librarian (Ex-officio member and Secretary).

Earn-While-Learn (EWL) Program	JLN Library had earlier offered the EWL program to twenty-five students, from the Department of Library and Information Science and the Department of Computer Science & Applications in the Academic Session 2016-17, 2017-18, 2018-19 & 2019-20. Due to the prevailing condition of COVID-19, the scheme is suspended for the session 2020-21. Presently eight students are engaged through the Placement & Training cell.
